Chapter 1: The Real World

Feng Keying held the freshly picked up cake in her hand, humming a tune as she waited at the traffic light.

Today was her fathers 58th birthday, so Feng Keying had specially ordered a cake, unlike her usual routine of staying late to tutor students who were lagging behind.

At that moment, Feng Keying was contemplating how to celebrate her fathers birthday.

The green light came on.

She began to cross the street.

“Screech—” She heard the sound of brakes, followed by a sharp pain in her waist, and she felt herself being thrown into the air.

She saw the panicked driver and the smeared cake on the ground, heard the successive screams, and then felt her body twist as something seemed to float out of her.

Suddenly, she felt no pain. Had she died? Become a ghost?

She saw her mangled body on the road.

If she really was dead, what would happen to her father?

Feng Keyings mother had passed away due to illness when she was eight, and she had grown up living with her father, with whom she shared an exceptionally close relationship.

She was exceptionally talented in her studies, skipping grades to complete her graduate studies, and after graduation, she returned to her hometown to become an elementary school language teacher.

Occasionally writing articles and doing translations, coupled with scholarships and manuscript fees from her school days, meant she was not short of money.

She simply wanted to live a peaceful life with her father—was that too much to ask?

The ambulance arrived, its “beep-beep” sound causing anxiety.

She followed the ambulance as it floated to the hospital.

She watched her own body being taken into the emergency room, and her father, after asking the nurses station, rushed to the door of the emergency room, not even taking the time to wipe the sweat from his face.

His eyes were fixed on the door of the emergency room, trying to see through it to understand what was happening inside. Seeing her father so anxious, Feng Keying finally couldnt hold back her tears.

The waiting was the hardest part, and she didnt know how much time had passed before the doctor came out.

“Doctor, how is my daughter?” her father asked urgently, clutching the doctors hand.

“Your daughter is still unconscious. She is preliminarily determined to be in a vegetative state. Please accept our condolences,” the doctor said. As soon as he finished speaking, her father could no longer support himself and fainted. Chaos ensued in front of the emergency room once again.

Feng Keying cried with tears streaming down her face, wanting to help her father, but her hands could only pass through his body countless times.

“If only I could wake up, what will happen to my dad now?” Feng Keying thought through her tears.

“System 1106 at your service.” A voice suddenly sounded in her ear.

“Who are you? Where are you? Why cant I see you?” Feng Keying was very surprised.

“Hello, I am the Life Rewrite System developed by Blue Star Tresles Group in the year 2068. You can call me by my number, 1106. The system currently needs to collect data to improve itself, so it is looking for a suitable host to bind and perform tasks.” The system, identifying itself as 1106, explained.

“You only collect data and do nothing else?” Feng Keying expressed her doubt.

“Yes, because the systems technology is far beyond the level of this plane, to minimize the impact on the plane, the system only collects data and does nothing else unrelated, trying to intervene as little as possible in the plane.” 1106 patiently answered.

“What benefits will I get from completing these tasks?”

“If you accumulate 100,000 points from the tasks, you can (escape) the vegetative state in this world, wake up completely, and the skills you learn during the tasks will also come with you to this world.”

1106 seemed to know what Feng Keying was thinking and offered an irresistible reward.

“How many tasks do I need to complete to get 100,000 points? How long does it take to complete a task?” Feng Keying asked again, wanting to clarify and see if the deal was worthwhile or if there were better terms.
