Chapter 1: The Fallen Actress

In an opulent room, Shen ChiYu was fast asleep.

Her fluffy black hair contrasted with her fair skin, and her long, dark eyelashes made her look like a Barbie doll.

The phone rang, jolting her awake. Her assistants anxious voice came through the line.

"ChiYu, something terrible has happened! Turn on the TV quickly!"

Shen ChiYu hung up the phone and, still groggy, turned on the television.

"How cruel! Why am I so unfortunate!"

On TV, a disheveled middle-aged woman sat on the ground, slapping her thighs, crying so hard she nearly fainted.

"Auntie, please tell us whats wrong!"

Faced with the reporters question, the woman cried even harder, her demeanor reminiscent of a Northeastern shamanistic dance.

"Please, everyone, judge for yourselves!"

"I raised my daughter with great hardship, never asking for anything in return! Even when she became an actress, we never asked her for money!"

"But now her father is seriously ill, and she... she wont even contribute a cent for his medical expenses!"

With a "click," Shen ChiYu irritably turned off the TV, her sleepiness gone.

The woman on TV was her mother, Qin Mei, who favored her son and treated her daughter as a cash cow!

Every penny Shen ChiYu earned was taken by her mother under various pretexts and given to her brother, Shen Lang.

Shen ChiYu hung up the phone, quickly freshened up, and went to the company.

Dream Reality Media, the bosss office.

Shen ChiYu looked at the termination letter in front of her and the boss sitting across from her, feeling a bitter smile in her heart.

She had signed with Dream Reality Media as a newcomer and later became the only domestic Oscar-winning actress. Many companies had tried to recruit her, but out of loyalty, she never wavered.

But now that she was in trouble, they were in such a hurry to distance themselves from her?

Shen ChiYu said nothing, just silently picked up the pen on the table and signed her name on the termination letter.

After a long silence, she looked up, "Is there anything else?"

Looking at the signed termination letter in front of him, Xu Shi was stunned.

He had expected Shen ChiYu to make a scene, but she was so calm, and his gaze towards her held a bit more guilt.

"ChiYu, dont blame me, I have no choice."

"This is the boards decision. After all, this incident has seriously affected the companys image."

Shen ChiYu looked at Xu Shis hypocritical face and laughed, cutting him off.

"Nothing else, Ill leave then."

So much for high-minded words, didnt they just kick her away as soon as trouble arose?

Xu Shi wanted to say more, but Shen ChiYu didnt give him the chance to speak, getting up and leaving the office.

The staff outside the door looked at her with sympathy, making her want to escape.

She took one last look at the company where she had worked from the age of eighteen to twenty-eight and left without looking back.

Fortunately, she wasnt completely alone; she still had Nan Ci, the one who had been by her side for twelve years, always caring for her and loving her.

She took out her phone and called Chu NanCi, desperately needing someone to talk to, but the other end only played a power-off tone.

The phone must have run out of battery?
